What is wrong with Ruby Tuesday?
I am a former manager with Ruby Tuesday. I decided to leave because of some of the poor performance of this company. Did you know that Ruby Tuesday makes it’s service staff tip out at 3.5%?!?! That means that for every 500 dollars in sales, the server MUST tip out 18 dollars. What’s more, they tip out this money REGARDLESS of the amount of tips that they bring in. When the server is only making about 90 dollars to begin with on that kind of sales, that means they are tipping out 20 percent of their income! Those numbers are based on a server’s sales of 500 dollars and assuming assuming a tip average of 18% which rarely happens. If you have a busy shift and sale even more, then you have to tipout even more money. Why you may ask? Because, Ruby Tuesday insists on having a server assistant to do the minor tasks such as rolling silverware, stocking ice and glasses, and running the customer’s food to the table.
