What is wrong with normal old fashioned names for babies that people recognise?!?!?!?

I think the issue is people want something unique so they tend to make things up. I wanted a unique (or at least unusual name) for my son, but I also wanted a proper name, not something made up, or a fruit etc. We searched until we found the right name, it is unusual where we live, he’s certainly the only one we know and I am pleased its a real name and not something I just made up myself. There are lots of names out there that are still (or have become) unusual, people should look harder.

I wouldn’t say my daughter Amanda’s name is old fashioned but at least it’s not, Sunday, Apple, Pixie, Peaches, Princess (although she is a princess! lol). I don’t understand why these people especially celebrities call their children weird names. They mustn’t think of them when they are going to school, but saying that, I suppose they’ll all have weird names by then. My son is Michael George James. Michael is his daddy, his daddy’s dad, his daddy’s grandad and his daddy’s great grandad so he’s Michael the 5th lol. George is after his daddy’s other grandad and James is after my dad. Imagine if we kept going through the family? He’d have about 20 names.

People like uniqueness since every one wants their baby to be an individual. The thing is that when every one does it is no longer unique but rather the trend and the norm. These days the trend is old fashioned names like Emily and made up names like Nevaeh. My son has an old fashioned name but certainly not a trendy one. His name is Calvin. A recognizable name but still not overused.

crazy new names are different and unique.. sets you apart from the rest and gives you unique identity however there has been a new trend among my friends for few years now- they all prefer old fashioned, common names for their babies and so do I. there is nothing wrong with old fashioned names, they are cute!!

They seem to be totally out of favor today. Young people are giving their babies names that others either won’t know how to pronounce or won’t know how to spell. And obviously they don’t give their parents or other relatives the pleasure of having grandchildren named after them. I find it rather sad.
