What is wrong with my vacuum cleaner?

There are vacuum cleaner repair shops. If the motor runs but the suction is weak then it could be a blocked bag. Make sure it is not overfull or not crimped. If there is no suction then it is probably a motor and not worth repairing.

You either have a broken belt or your vacuum is clogged. Turn the vacuum upside down and turn it on and if the brush spins, then your alright, but if it doesn’t move, then your belt is broken. Easy to change. Walmart or home depot, etc sells them and with a phillips screwdriver, take off the plastic top of the vacuum and you will see where the belt goes. Now if you brush is spinning, then you have a clog. Check down the hose and see if you can see light. A clog is easy to unclog, a long screwdriver etc.

Look if the vacuum cleaner tube is not blocked by something. Look in the user manual if you don’t know how. It can also be that the security lock blocks out that you can start to vacuum. See first if you have some warranty left before you go to the shop where you bought it and don’t forget the ticket, so if it is a engine failure and not your fault it may be that you get an other for free.

Do you have a Dirt Devil upright? Anyways, take the attachment hose off. Make sure it is not clogged. Remove dust & lint. Make sure the vacuum cleaner roller (turn over) is spinning when on. You can take the roller off and make sure there is nothing wrapped around it. There isn’t much to a vacuum cleaner. Just keep it clean & they will last for a long time. Dirt Devil vacuums are notorious for this. Don’t waste your money on having repaired. You can do these thing yourself.

If it’s an upright with instant hand wand. Step on release and let top rest on the floor, remove the hand wand, clean the tube the wand came out of carefully, with a hanger. The hose the wand is on can also clog too. I could give you more help if I knew what type of vacuum it is.
