What Is Wrong With My Puppy?
I think my puppy has parvo but don’t know for sure. On Monday (christmas eve day) I bought some worming medicine for her and my younger puppy. Abby, the sick one, is around 5 months old; and Nina is like 9 wks old. They are both lab mixes. Anyways, since Nina seemed to have a pretty bad case of worms (we just got her less than 2 wks ago) and it seemed like-despite my efforts to cure Abby of worms- she still seemed to have symptoms of worms like being underweight–so I treated them both with worming medicine. Very soon afterward Abby started acting sickly. She is lethargic, has had smellly diarehha, has discharge from her eyes and has been drooling from the mouth. I thought she was better this mourning (Friday) because shgot up and opted to drink and I thought ate some dog food but she isn’t. I feel horrible but my boyfriend and I are pretty strapped for cash and can not afford some hugh vet bill. What can you tell me. Any advice would be greatly helpful. I did vaccinate my puppies. I wo
The best place to find out what is wrong with the pup is to take her to the vet. In cases like this, I would suggest taking her to more than one vet, to see if the diagnosis match up. This will make sure the dog is not misdiagnosed, and also it will save you time and money. Sorry to say this, if the case is as extreme as you mentioned, your dog may die. Take her to the vet.
Sounds like parvo. He needs fluids pumped in constanly, but if he’s that sick, he may not make it. It takes the shots several days to kick in and do any good, also if the shot got hot or was old it could make him sick. He needs fluids now, you need to pump fluids in him costantly. if you have antibiotics give him some. But even when he pukes the fluids back up, give him more.. Pedialite is best. He still may not make it since he’s that sick. Sorry. Also, if he does die and you get another puppy, you need to make sure that you clean everywhere the puppy has been with bleach water. And don’t let them outside or in the same places the other was in for at least a month after you start shots, and it needs shots starting at 6 weeks old, and give at 8 weeks and 10 weeks.
