What is wrong with my auntys cockatiel?
The “fits” you describe make me think that something neurologic is going on, which can be the result of severe illness or the bird might have even ingested something in its environment which is toxic. This can include lead or zinc from unsafe toys and surfaces, chipped paint the bird may have chewed on. Your aunt probably knows this but nonstick cookware when overheated can generate a gas toxic to birds. However, because you describe foul smelling poos leads me to think this could be an infectious condition (fungus, virus, bacteria). Runny poos are not normal in a bird. Yellow or bright green poos and urine/urates may indicate chlamydiosis (psittacosis, or parrot fever are other terms for it). Only a veterinarian can diagnose this and other conditions. This response does not substitue for a veterinarian’s diagnosis and advice. Consider the age of the bird as well. An older bird may be more prone to developing age related problems. Something is definitely wrong with your bird. Call arou
