So what is the major problem with contractor referral services, other than the obvious fact that you have to pay for every single appointment for which home-owner may not even show up, or be grossly inconvenienced because of some “last minute” things that come up, and may well cause your potential customer to regret even talking to you in the first place? In my humble opinion the fundamental problem with contractor referral services is that it is difficult, almost impossible to stand out and convey why you are different in a better way, because of the way those appointments are structured. Really, to a home owner you are just guy number three referred by a matching company. It is difficult to show differentiation when you are put in such a framework, and this is not a winning situation for a company that actually takes a great pride in its work, offers warranty and budgets for unforeseeable challenges and expenditures when performing work.
