What is wrong with being considered beautiful and intelligent?
Stereotypes are superficial ways of trying to describe people; they also apply to groups rather than individuals, which limits their usefulness. In the case of Eurasians, it’s also unfair to those who of us happen to be ugly and/or stupid (just kidding). Being defined in terms of one’s appearance can also lead people to experience themselves as having value only in the eyes of others, as well as inducing passivity in their personality (since they come to believe in the power of something over which they have played no part in creating). Incidentally the stereotype of Eurasians as being beautiful seems to exist equally in East and West (many Asians in the West seem to rationalize “marrying out” to Caucasians by claiming that they want to have beautiful children [in my opinion that argument is more often than not an attempt to mask one’s desire to marry into a more privileged part of society]).
