WRAP is working hard with consumers, businesses and industry to minimise waste and maximise recycling opportunities. During 2006-08 we have helped to boost growth in the £1.2 billion recycling and reprocessing sector by 10% – worth £120 million. Our achievements include: • Working with the construction sector to halve waste to landfill by 2012. Construction waste accounts for a third of all UK waste – some 120 million tonnes • Investment in Shotton Paper Mill to enable it to produce 100% recycled newsprint and allow collections of waste paper and newspapers from an extra 4 million households. This diverts 320,000 tonnes of newspapers and magazines from landfill every year. • Selling 2 million subsidised home composting bins to householders.
