What is World Family Tree?
World Family Tree CD’s each contain hundreds or thousands of family trees submitted by individual family researchers. Consequently, the size, degree of detail, level of documentation, and–most importantly–the accuracy of these user-submitted family trees varies widely. These family trees may also allow you to locate other researchers who share your family lines. How do I use World Family Tree? Each volume of the World Family Tree on CD-ROM contains its own index of every name on the CD, as well as a list and very brief description of each of the family trees provided on that disc. There is no master index to the entire World Family Tree collection in CD-ROM form; however, Family Tree Maker/Genealogy.com do provide a searchable online index. You can search specific names to identify the specific CD-ROMs and family tree numbers that contain that name.
