What is Worcester Academys academic philosophy?
Worcester Academy is, first and foremost, a college preparatory school, and has been ever since its founding in 1834. The Academy’s primary goal is to provide students an exceptional academic foundation so that when they head off to college they will find great success, and will realize their academic potential. The WA curriculum is a traditional one that emphasizes the skills essential to continuing academic development and success – critical reading, effective communication both oral and written, and problem solving. While the Academy expects a great deal of its students, and asks that they work very hard in their courses, the faculty provides a high level of support along the way. Each student pursues a course of study that is appropriate to their level of ability and their prior coursework.
