I would say that she means that she is using wooden bases in which to display her sculptures on. I myself mainly use wooden bases under my sculptures when they are finished, and also have had a metal name plates attached to the side of the base with the title of the sculpture in it. You will find that bases are mainly: wood, stone, marble mainly when it comes to sculptures. Hope this helps…..
