What is Wood Boring Beetles of the World?
Wood Boring Beetles of the World is Phase I of a multi-phase initiative to provide an accurate identification resource for wood boring beetles. It will consist of three individual identification tools: Wood Boring Beetle Families (available now), which delimits family-level taxa (both adults and larvae) of Coleoptera known to be wood borers, and two to-be-completed family-level tools for adults: genera of Bostrichidae and genera of Buprestidae. Future tools are being initiated to deal with the other families not covered in the first phase. Due to the meager state of knowledge of beetle larva, no generic-level tools for this stage can be accomplished at this time.
