What is with the red moon out there tonight february 20th ,2008, its kind of freaky?
The moon can appear red if it’s illuminated by sunlight grazing the earth’s atmosphere — a near lunar eclipse. Imagine you’re standing on the moon looking at the sun, with the earth just barely blocking the sun with its atmosphere. The sunlight is red for the same reason sunsets are red on earth — blue is scattered leaving red behind.
