What is with the Michigan Primaries??

0

Your knowledge is incorrect. In Michigan the primary voters can choose which one of the primaries they want to vote in. Party affiliation is not relevant.

Michigan primary is an open primary. That means any voter can vote for whomever they want no matter what party they are in. You may be talking about the loss of delegates for the Democratic party. The Dem. party leaders for Michigan decided to go against party rules as they were agreed upon and pushed the primary earlier than it was supposed to be. As a result, Michigan (and Florida) lost their delegates to the convention. In other words, your vote does not count for choosing the candidate. You have to wait till November to have your vote count. The Republicans did not go against party rules, so they kept their delegates for their convention.
