What is Wisdom and Compassion according to Buddhism?
According to Buddhism, Wisdom and Compassion are two main factors to gain enlightenment. Wisdom is gained through the meditation practices by looking into oneself or world or situations. Further, wisdom is gained through the realization of true nature of the phenomena which is pure in nature. With wisdom one understands what is right and what is wrong and walks on the way of truth and righteousness. Right ways are the way of peace, harmony, understanding, caring and sharing. Therefore in other words, wisdom strengthens compassion. Similarly, compassion means to help or serve others to overcome the suffering. With Compassion one generates different positive ideas, understanding, realization which is called insight or wisdom. Therefore compassion also strengthens to gain Wisdom. They both go hand in hand. Thus, wisdom helps one gain enlightenment while compassion helps others gain enlightenment.
