What is wired network service?
It is the wired broadband residential Internet service offered in the residence halls at Cornell. It provides dedicated, wired Internet connectivity to the university residence halls, as well as some graduate residences, Greek houses, and co-operative residences. These wired network connections provide connectivity to Cornell’s Wide Area Network (WAN) and the Internet. Wi-Fi service is also available in some residence hall locations via RedRover. Where available in the residence halls (see the RedRover Coverage page for Wi-Fi detail), both RedRover (Wi-Fi) and wired network service may be used as parallel services. Residents may use either or both, as they prefer. Residents may also “mix-and-match” the two services (for example: connecting a laptop computer via RedRover, but using the wired network to connect a game console).
