HARTFORD, Conn. — The state Legislature is considering a bill that would bring heavy fines to those who drive with any snow or ice on their vehicles after winter weather strikes. Current law requires that snow be cleaned off of the windshields of vehicles, but incidents such as one this past winter in which ice from the bed of a truck struck smashed the windshield of a vehicle driven by a local woman have prompted a call for more strict laws. Olin Grant, of Somers, said he can relate. “It’s pretty dangerous,” he said. “A chunk of ice hits the windshield. I actually had a piece of it crack mine a couple of years ago.” Lawmakers said Grant’s is a story they hear often. After a quick vote outside Senate chambers on Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee sent a bill on to the full Legislature. The bill would carry fines of $200 to $1,000 if snow or ice flies from the roof or trunk of a person’s vehicle and causes damage or injury. But despite Grant’s experience, he doesn’t know if he agrees w
