What is western red cedar?
Western Red Cedar is a softwood tree species. The natural timber can range from pale brown to dark brown while the younger part of the tree, the outside, is a yellowish, white. The texture is fine but uneven due to the prominent growth rings, however the grain is generally straight, making it an ideal timber for Venetian Blinds. The variation in the colour, depending from where the slat is cut, is a feature of cedar with flames of light to dark within a slat. Cedar has a lovely fragrance which adds to the experience.
