What is weather like in San Salvador ?
El Salvador has a tropical climate with very pronounced wet AND dry seasons with temperatures varying in accordance to elevation with little seasonal change. The areas within the Pacific lowlands are usually hot with the areas within the Central Plateau and mountain significantly more moderate and temperate. Mountain areas are often the coolest. The rainy season occurs from May to October with the majority of the rain falling (extremely) at this time. Rainfalls usually occur in the late afternoons (during the rainy season). From November through the month of April, the weather often consists of a hot, dry and hazy wind which blows from northeast trade winds originating from the Caribbean (after it has blown over Honduras ). Required Clothing Lightweight clothing and rainwear is recommended as well as warmer clothing for the evenings (light jacket and/or light sweaters if in the mountainous areas). A solid pair of walking shoes is highly recommended for trekking.
