It is the first widely supported WAP version and it was updated to 1.1 to align it with the world wide web. WAP 1.1 defines the way the telephone communicates with the internet and it has a language (WML) similar to HTML used on the internet. This means you can show text and pictures on your phone. WAP 1.1 also has a way to do small scripting programs called WML scripts similar to java scripts on the WWW. The Nokia 7110 is the first phone to support WAP 1.1.
