What is VUMC going to do about HIPAA?
VUMC is committed to meeting the HIPAA requirements within the designated timeframes. Vanderbilt established an Executive Committee to provide leadership and an Advisory Committee to oversee these efforts. A dedicated team was formed (called the HIPAA Program Management Office) to help departments comply. This team will help each department assess their current practices and determine what they need to do to become compliant with the HIPAA regulations. Each department will need to take defined steps to make sure they are in compliance with HIPAA requirements, but the HIPAA Team will be available to provide support and assistance.
