Vicuna Wool is made from the Vicua , an animal similar to the Llama that lives high in the Andes. It is a very fine wool. It is very expensive. It is the finest and rarest natural fibre with a fineness of 10 to 13 micron () and a length of 20 to 25 mm. The wool can be harvested only once every three years. The average yield is 1 pound of wool per year per animal. The Vicua is also considered to be an endangered species. It is said that the Incas raised the Vicua for its wool; it was only worn by royalty.
