What is verification?
Verification is the process by which dotCoop determines whether an applicant is eligible to register a .coop domain name according to the .coop TLD Eligibility Criteria. Verification is required because the .coop top level domain (TLD) is a restricted TLD. This means that only cooperatives and organizations serving cooperatives are allowed to register and use .coop domain names. dotCoop is responsible for ensuring that only eligible organizations are using this TLD.
If your FAFSA is selected for verification by either the U.S. Department of Education or by the Herzing University Online Financial Aid Department, you will be asked to submit additional information to verify that the questions on your FAFSA form were answered correctly. This is a very common step in the financial aid process.
Verification is a process that all universities receiving federal aid are required to complete. Those students selected for verification, are done so randomly by the federal processor. The purpose of verification is not to find fraudulent FAFSA applicants, but to find and correct common mistakes made during the filing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. All federal need-based aid packaging must be put on hold until you provide the necessary information requested through the verification process. If the verification process is not completed, you will not be considered for any federal need-based financial aid. Therefore, it is important to return the requested documentation as soon as possible. Processing usually takes about three weeks, but can take longer in peak processing periods.
Verification is a review process in which the Office of Financial Aid determines the accuracy of the information provided on the student’s financial aid application. During the verification process the student and parent, if dependent, will be required to submit documentation for the amounts listed (or not listed) on the financial aid application. Such documentation may include signed copies of parent and student tax returns, copies of W-2’s, copies of Social Security benefit statements among other items. Financial aid applications are randomly selected by the Federal processor for verification. If there is an asterisk next to the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) figure on your Student Aid Report (SAR), your SAR has been selected for verification. Schools may also select additional students for verification. If any discrepancies are uncovered during verification, the Office of Financial Aid may require additional information to clear up the discrepancies. Northwestern State Universit
