-Dom Vasco da Gama was a Rich Portuguese conqueror, always using subterfuge and violence. In the European Age of colonialism. he was the commander of the first ships to sail directly from Europe to India. This fleet arrived to Calicut in India on 20 May 1498. After violent negotiations with the local ruler Zamorin he despoiled Arab merchants.
