What is VANOC? Who are the partners in it?
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (known as “VANOC”) was incorporated in September 2003, pursuant to the Canada Corporations Act as a not for profit corporation by the Federal Government, Province of BC, City of Vancouver, Resort Municipality of Whistler, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, Band Council of the Lil’Wat First Nation and Band Council of the Squamish First Nation. The Bid Corporation, the group that organized Vancouver’s Bid campaign, will be dissolved in due course. VANOC’s mandate is to “support and promote the development of sport in Canada by planning, organizing, financing and staging the XXI Olympic Winter Games and X Paralympic Games in 2010.
