What is valuable about Castros “History will absolve me” speech?
There is a lot that is valuable about Fidel Castro’s speech than JosF, who knows little to nothing about the history of the Cuban people, can dismiss through ignorance and bias. What kind of a nation locks away a man incommunicado for 76 days in solitary confinement? A nation that does not respect human or legal rights. What kind of justice is served when the accused is almost entirely denied legal aid? A government that acts outside of the law to suppress political dissent is not a just government. While imprisonment is hard for anyone, Fidel Castro did not fear being imprisoned or the unjust treatment of the dictator Fulgencio Batista, who killed 70 of Castro’s comrades and could very easily have had Castro killed without the pretense of legal incarceration. Serving any amount of time did not bother him, and History did in fact absolve him once he was freed after 2 years, it would only be a matter of 6 years time before Castro and the Cuban revolutionaries marched into Havana as the
