What is Valmont Industries?
Mr. McClain: Valmont is a manufacturer and is viewed, I believe, as an industry leader in engineered support structures and services for infrastructure. This includes structures such as lighting, traffic signal structures, and utility structures ‘ almost anything that holds something in the air. We also are a leader in water management for large-scale agriculture. We were founded in 1946. The company’s early start came from the development of agricultural implements and equipment, but is best known for founding and pioneering center pivot and linear move irrigation. That business started in about 1953. That led us into other metal products, such as pipe and tubing. Then we entered the light pole and structures markets and after going through a variety of different avenues for growth, we have settled on the fact that we want to be basically global leaders in infrastructure support structures and in irrigation for large-scale agriculture.
