What is Valerens connection to the East?
In the ancient past, Saulot traveled to the East at least once, and possibly as many as three times. While in the East, Saulot became known as Zao-lat. During his travels through the East, he met a powerful Cathayan (Eastern Kindred) called Xue. Impressed with Zao-lat’s search for a way out of damnation, Xue chose him as a disciple, and instructed Zao-lat in the Great Principle and the way of Golconda. However, Zao-lat fell from favor, being seen by the other Cathayansas as “imperfect in the eyes of Heaven.” Saulot not only used his Eastern knowledge to explore Golconda, he developed a new Discipline called Valeren. Those with the Kindred of the East sourcebook will recognize Valeren as a variant of Chi’ju Muh (Dragon Tears). However, the Eastern version of the Discipline is not divided into two separate paths.
