What is used to test hardness of minerals?

0

The Mohs Scale of Hardness is used to test minerals by many geologists. This scale measures the hardness of the mineral in regards to other objects; i.e. Hard minerals will scratch glass but cannot be scratched with a knife blade. Soft minerals will not scratch glass and can be scratched by a masonry nail.
