What is Upward Basketball?
Upward Basketball was founded by Caz McCaslin. Since its beginning in 1986, the emphasis has been upon Christ-likeness and good sportsmanship, not championships and trophies. It was founded upon Colossians 3:17: “Whatever you do, whether in word of deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Today, there are over 200,000 children participating in Upward worldwide. Upward is all about the children and not about the final score of the game or how many games are won during the year. The primary goal is to introduce the joys of our Lord Jesus to the children and hopefully to their parents also. Seeing the smile of a child after they have scored a basket or even helping a child through a tough time when they felt they have made a mistake can be quite a blessing.
