What is up with Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, and afore mentioned Earnhardt Jr?
Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr could miss the Chase in 2009 based on their performances after ten races. Earnhardt Jr is eighteenth in the standings, 87 points out of Chase contention. Harvick is 23rd in the standings, a distant 208 points out of Chase contention. Terrible luck and substandard performances are confining these two star drivers to mid-pack status. There is still time, but the race to the chase clock is ticking. Kasey Kahne is in a similar situation. He is consistently mediocre, as he sits seventeenth in the standings, 81 points below the Chase cutoff. Harvick, Kahne, and Earnhardt Jr are simply underachieving in 2009.
