What is up with Bill Elliott?
Bill Elliott, now running a partial Cup schedule [#00 Burger King Chevy], said Thursday that he’s weighing several offers for next season. He has been mentioned as a possible part-time replacement for Dale Jarrett in Robert Yates’ #88 Ford, with younger drivers running the balance of the schedule. Elliott also is among the candidates to drive a Toyota Camry in Cup next year. “There are several good options out there,” Elliott said. “Within a month I should have an idea what I’m going to do.” He said he’d like to work out a deal that would serve as a steppingstone for his son Chase, 10, should he desire to pursue a career in NASCAR. “That’s one of the things I’ll look at,” he said, adding that the reason he chooses to run a maximum of 12-15 races a year is so he can spend more time with his family.
