What is “unshared” bandwidth?

0

CalPOP does not share your bandwidth commitment with other clients which means that your bandwidth commitment level is guaranteed. If you order 10mbps you get 10mbps and if you order 100mbps you get 100mbps. CalPOP has many, many 1000mbps gigabit fiber lines and keeps those about half full so that there is plenty of “overhead” bandwidth on the network backbone which it holds for reserves and which helps protect the network in the event of attacks.
