What is United Utilities is doing for World Environment Day?
• This World Environment Day we encouraged our employees to stop travelling to meetings, and make a conference call instead. The aim was to reduce the amount of business travel we do, so reducing our carbon emissions. • All the revenue from the day was donated to our chosen charity WaterAid by our supplier, Arkadin. • Some of our employees volunteered with our charity partners Groundwork at Elnup Woods in Wigan throughout the week. • In previous years we have been involved in planting woodland, building bird boxes, clearing footpaths and other landscaping activities at Jubilee Nature reserve in Oldham, Rosebank Millenium Green in Leeds and Victoria Park community Orchard in Warrington.
