The UnifiedPOS standard was created under the auspices of the Association for Retail Standards (ARTS) to define a common architecture for describing POS peripherals. The latest version (V1.12) defines the model for accessing and controlling 36 distinct types of retail peripherals by specifying a unique set of properties, methods and events for each.
