What is Understanding Society?
Understanding Society is a major new household study designed to track the lives of 100,000 people every year as they respond to regional, national and international change. It is a longitudinal study meaning that the same group of people is looked at on a regular basis to see how and why their lives have changed. The Study will look many variables, including at how parents relate to their children; the type of housing people are living in, whether they are developing new skills; whether they are in debt or whether their health is beginning to worsen. The Study will also show if different types of people, young, old or those born outside Britain are having different life experiences.
