What is UBCs involvement with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games?
UBC is a venue site for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Ice hockey (men’s and women’s tournament) and ice sledge hockey (men’s) will be hosted at the newly renovated UBC Thunderbird Arena. Following the Games, the venue will become a recreational and high-performance multi-sport legacy facility. The new training arena will be easily convertible to ice sledge hockey training and competition use. UBC has also has a long and proud history of sending many of our top athletes to the Games, including our recent send-off for the 2008 Beijing Games.
