What is Tuscarora Lapidary Society?
Tuscarora Lapidary Society, Inc. (TLS) is chartered as a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion of the lapidary hobby (the cutting and polishing of gem stones), and of the arts and sciences associated with lapidary interests. We are a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (EFMLS), and are affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Our society has members from all walks of life, brought together by our common interest in creating beautiful, decorative, and sometimes useful items from rocks and minerals. Through discussions of experiences and techniques, our members share their knowledge and advance their skills. We have an active Skill Improvement Program (SKIP) in which members’ work in several categories is judged against prescribed standards, and certificates of accomplishment are awarded.
