The Government has agreed that the transfer of employees from District Councils to the new unitary authority will act as a transfer governed by the provisions of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE). The TUPE Regulations ensure that employees’ terms and conditions are preserved when a business or undertaking, or part of one, is transferred to a new employer.
