What is tromso like compared to oslo, norway?
The nature around Tromsø is wilder, and I think more beautiful. It’s not as easy to get around though, and a car is more necessary. Lofoten is considered by many Norwegians to be the most beautiful part of Norway, and it’s fairly close to Tromsø. Oslo has much better transportation to everything down south, including Jotunheimen national park and the most well known fjords (on the west coast).. but the really nice scenery takes minimum a few hours to reach. Oslo is like most major cities, a bit anonymous and reserved. It’s more difficult to make friends in Oslo than other Norwegian cities. Unless you do a regular activity with someone, you aren’t likely to exchange more than a few words. If you’re persistent (or seek out other immigrants) you’ll make friends, but it can be a slow process. It’s much more relaxed up north, people are open and friendlier.
