What is Trazodone HCL?
Trazodone HCL (Hydrochloride) is also known as DESYREL (pronounced DES-ee-rel). It is commonly prescribed for the treatment of depression. Trazodone is also used to reduce the symptoms of agoraphobia, drug induced insomnia, essential tremor, repetitive screaming, and some pain syndromes. How does Trazodone work? The Trazadone prescription drug helps to relieve depression by increasing the amount of a chemical called serotonin in brain centers. Important Trazodone Facts Patient Impact: Trazadone does not provide immediate relief. It may take up to 4 weeks before the patient begins to feel better, although most patients actually notice improvement within 2 weeks.
