A. Trade Adjustment Assistance is a benefit program for workers who have been adversely affected by increased foreign imports. Under the Trade Act of 1974, workers who have either lost their jobs or whose work schedules and/or wages have been reduced as a result of increased imports from competing foreign industries may apply for TAA. The primary purpose of TAA benefits is to provide benefits and for the adversely affected worker to be come retrained and/or re-employed in a new occupation.
