What is Toughened/Tempered or Safety glass?
Toughening is the process of turning annealed (regular) glass into safety glass. The glass is superheated, then rapidly cooled, changing the structure of the glass. Toughened glass is extremely strong in comparison to annealed (regular) glass (around 4 – 5 times stronger), and if it does break, it shatters into small pieces that rather than sharp shards as is the case with annealed glass.
