What is Touchstone Energy? Was Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative bought out a couple of years ago?

Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative has not changed ownership. EMEC continues to be locally owned by the consumers, just as it always was. In 2005, however, the Co-op joined another cooperative known as “Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.” By joining Touchstone Energy ® (TSE), EMEC is able to save money by pooling some of its communication and member services resources with the other 600 TSE Cooperatives. This helps keep costs down while providing new member services like the Co-op Connections Card (insert link here), Sitesacrossamerica.com, education programs, and many others.
