What is Torah?
a. Torah is from a Hebrew root word, an archery term meaning to take aim, to shoot as in shooting an arrow to hit a target. The essence of the word Torah is to hit the mark. In the context of its usage, “teaching” or “instruction” is a better definition for Torah than “law.” The Torah is specifically the first five books of the Bible, but because of its definition (teaching or instruction) can be applied to the entire Bible. Moses and Law of Moses are also used as a synonym for the Torah.
