What is to be expected in the way of operational costs?
Operating costs include items such as fuel, moorage and marina fees, customs clearance fees, provisions, and acquisition or rental of any required safety items not already on the vessel such as EPIRBs, life rafts, PFDs, etc. These costs will vary and an estimate will be provided before the contract is signed. Because of slower cruising speeds, sailboats are typically more expensive to move than fast, ocean-capable powerboats. Personnel fees are generally 25%-50% of the overall delivery cost with operational costs making up the remainder.
