What is Tight Gas, and How is it Produced?
Simply put, it is natural gas that is in a very tight formation underground, trapped in rocks or sands that are not very permeable or porous. In a conventional natural gas deposit, once drilled, the gas can usually be extracted quite easily. But with a tight gas formation, different techniques have to be used to get at the gas. One of these techniques is to fracture the sands or rocks to create tiny vents through which the gas can escape into the wellbore.
