What is this thing called Dublin Core?
Dublin Core metadata is a small set of easily created elements that can be applied to most kinds of information resources. This set was conceived by an international interdisciplinary group of professionals from librarianship, computer science, and text encoding in order to improve Internet resource discovery. Dublin Core favors document-like objects because traditional text resources are fairly well-understood, although it can apply to other resources in proportion to how closely their metadata resembles typical document metadata. Dublin Core has as it’s goals simplicity, flexibility and semantic interoperability. Dublin Core metadata must be of a form suitable for interpretation both by the search engines and by human beings. 1.3.
