“Puff, The Magic Dragon” is a song written by Peter Yarrow and Leonard Lipton in 1963. This folksy children’s song was sung by Peter, Paul & Mary. Released on the album Peter, Paul & Mommy in 1969. Whether intended by the songwriter or not, the lyrics of the song are usually taken to refer to drug use, which is part of the reason that the song was embraced by the “hippie” movement.
