What is this new Woolworths going bankrupt story?
Published: 27 November, 2008 Sinn Fein MLA and Vice chair of the Committee for Enterprise, Trade & Investment has called on the banking institutions to do more to help businesses who are in difficulty. This follows both Woolworth’s and MFI going into administration (bankrupt). Speaking today Ms McCann said: “Well established retail businesses such as Woolworth’s and MFI are having to lay off workers due to their outlets having to go bankrupt. “The economic recession has already impacted on a number of local businesses and resulted in increased unemployment. The other one in big problems is K-mart.
They’re just going bankrupt. Nobody’s buying from them anymore. I know I haven’t been in a woolies in years. I was listening to this guy on the radio, who basically said they’re selling things that nowadays you can get cheaper, and better quality in supermarkets, like Tesco or Asda. They just don’t have a market anymore, I don’t think. Which is sad, because the pic’n’mix used to be the best part of my Saturday when I was little, but there you go.
